Background
Founded by Ferriën Mertens, Mermarine is built on practical experience gained through yacht brokerage, shipbuilding, shipyard ownership and vessel projects throughout Europe.
In addition to this industry experience, Ferriën Mertens is an EMCI Full Certified Yacht & Small Craft Surveyor, combining formal technical qualification with hands-on involvement in vessel transactions, refits, conversions and project execution.
Working on both the commercial and technical side of projects provided a unique perspective on how projects develop in practice. While technical challenges are often visible, the most significant risks frequently originate much earlier in assumptions, governance, decision-making and project structure.
Following the sale of the shipyard in 2024, the focus shifted entirely towards independent owner representation, project governance and strategic advisory services for owners and investors.
